Anatomy of the Concrete Screed.

Why a power concrete screed?!  If you have to ask… I probably have to tell you what a “screed” is.  Screed:  1. Noun:  board used to smooth out concrete after it is dispearsed from the truck 2. Verb: “to screed”  holding onto one end of the “screed” and sawing back and forth, while traveling in a forward motion, with another guy on the oposite end… 3. Rock band from the 90’s…

With the advent of the gas powered screed, life comes a little easier for the “screeder”.  Most use a gas powered four stroke engine that gives the board a vibrating action.  Some I have seen actually look like a little “weedeater” type device.  Of course, we here at Trade Tool prefer a more manly model!  Basically one is looking to do more work, in less time, with fewer injury reports from ones concrete crew.Š  Oh!  And utilizing a wooden screed board doesn’t hurt either.  Have you SEEN the prices for the metal ones!  I also recieved the tip that a wooden board does not tear up metal forms either:)!

At any rate, if your looking to pour more concrete, in less time, with ONE guy screeding… check out using a power screed… you may even have enough time to dig out those old “Screed” CD’s!
